No Space? You Can Still Benefit from In-Queue Merchandising

In-queue merchandising offers several key benefits. Merchandising in the queue allows you to extract value from otherwise unused space; it gives you the opportunity to garner last-minute impulse sales from customers as they wait to check out; and it keeps customers engaged and focused less on the “pain” of waiting. These benefits, however, are not just reserved for large retailers or large spaces. Even a small queue can reap the rewards of in-queue merchandising by implementing unique solutions that take up minimal floor space. Here are some ideas:

  • Add a single slatwall panel in between two stanchions and add some simple accessories, such as shelves or baskets, to display merchandise.
  • Add a merchandising bowl to a single post and voila! You’ve got a designated place for customers to wait and merchandise to keep them engaged.
  • Go with a simple retractable belt stanchion system with cascading bowls on either end of the short line.
  • Use double-sided merchandising components to take advantage of the inside and outside of the queue, so whether someone is in the queue or just about to enter it, there are last-minute buying options available.

You can pack your queue full of great merchandising without overdoing it or clogging up the limited space you have available. Space-saving merchandising solutions for smaller queues are worth the time and the minimal space they occupy.
