Lavi Quick Tip: Refurbishing Old Stanchions

Lavi Quick Tip: Refurbishing Old Stanchions

Last updated: September 04, 2012Perry Kuklin

If you’re looking for ways to make your crowd control stanchions last longer or look newer, there are several easy solutions to try – most of which require little more than elbow grease. Here’s what’s going on: Age and use can take their toll on any crowd control or queue management product, but don’t give up on your posts and stanchions at the first sign of wear. A stanchion that has been sitting out in the field for five to 10 years can loosen or wear down, but that doesn’t mean its days are done.

The solution: The solution to salvaging your stanchions is more than likely a simple one, saving you time, money, and effort while still keeping them looking and working as they should. If your biggest concern is a wobbly stanchion that is no longer able to get the job done, the easiest thing to do is to call on an Allen wrench. (We’re happy to send you one.) Make sure the post-to-base connection is tight and that may solve the issue of sturdiness right there. Our posts are purposely designed with an easy-to-tighten bottom bolt.

Dealing with a Beltrac® stanchion belt that has lost its tautness or is no longer retracting like it should? Lavi’s affordable replacement mechanism easily slides into place making a worn-out belt work like new again. Finally, if you’re considering refurbishing old stanchions to get them to blend with new posts or match new décor, don’t underestimate the power of mild cleaners and touchup paints that allow you to spruce up even the shabbiest of stanchions for your business or facility.
